Sharad and Linda purchased a house with lake frontage in Waukesha county. Although they initially wanted to renovate the house, the changes would have just been too expensive. They hired Kerry Sutton Design to start over with a new plan. The site proved to be a significant challenge—although it was very deep, the site only supports a 30' wide house. The Lakeside Mediterranean is the solution.
A Challenging Layout
Because of the challenges and unique site features, the levels in this plan are laid out in a unique way. To take maximum advantage of the lake views, public areas of the house take up the upper level, while private areas occupy the main and lower levels. A multi-level staircase makes it all possible.
Main Level
Enter the main level from the garage, and enter into a mud room with a spacious coat closet. The large master bedroom features ample closet space and a beautiful master bathroom. The second bedroom also features a dedicated bathroom.
Upper Level
The upper level shows off the lake views. The landing from the stairs directs you toward the great room, which features a fireplace and extra large windows that show off the great views. The kitchen, with both a peninsula and an island, are also open to the views. The dining room faces the front of the house, and is perfect for formal dinner parties.
Lower Level
The lower level adds even more space to this surprisingly large house. The lower landing leads into the family room, perfect for a pool table or just some large comfortable furniture. The third bedroom features its own bath, and the laundry room and utility room offer easy access to these necessary functions. The media room, built beneath Spancrete panels that form the garage floor.
